Do You FoodieView?

January 16, 2008

I think I like to read about food almost as much as I like to eat it. Especially recipes. I can usually accurately imagine how a dish will taste just by reading the ingredients. I am never afraid to try a new recipe, and I have had relatively few failures — plenty of stuff I wouldn’t make again, but rarely a dish I couldn’t eat. (One of my worst? A broccoli & hard-boiled egg casserole. I think it had mayo in it, too. Oh my goodness, it makes me a little ill to even think about it.)

One of my all-time favorite search engines for recipes is FoodieView. It aggregates recipes from many good sites, so I like that there are usually many options for anything I search on. But my favorite part is the ease of customizing your search by “special considerations.” For instance, I was looking for a pareve cornbread recipe to serve tomorrow night with the chicken chili. I just went to FoodieView, searched on cornbread and clicked “dairy free” as a special consideration. No wading through dozens of recipes that call for 2 cups of milk.

I’ll let you know how the cornbread turns out tomorrow.

Thanks for that Foodie View search engine. I’ll try it.

Cheesy Kale Crisps: We rarely eat kale now that our farm share is over, and I want to fix that. I've wanted to try using nutritional yeast, and this recipe looks like a tasty way to do it.

"Shake It Out" by Florence + the Machine. This song reminds me of Annie Lennox, and I love tracks that include a huge, gospel-like chorus.
