If I Were Cooking, Here’s What I’d Make

March 20th, 2008

I’ve been practically housebound since Friday, when A. got sick — he is just back to school today, and hopefully G. will be able to return tomorrow so he can dress up for Purim. There’s been little to no cooking going on, and what I have cooked has been thanks to what I had in the house already (plus an onion borrowed from Sharon!).

It’s OK though, because that was the plan all along. Tonight we’re bringing in pizza for dinner, tomorrow is leftovers, and then if I ever go shopping maybe I’ll cook over the weekend. Here are some of the recipes I’ve been reading and thinking about:

Happy Spring!

Get out! That is such a fun idea. How thrilled would I be to find a little mini easter creme egg inside!:O) I think I should make them giant sized and put full sized eggs in!

Happy Spring to you too, Dara! Fingers crossed that cutie pie G gets to school tomorrow for the Purim festivities. Those Creme Egg Muffins are too cute, and I may have to make them for Easter - my girls would love them! Promise that you’ll save me a Black Bean Brownie if you ever make one — I’d love to try, but not sure I’d ever venture to make them!

I made the lemon roasted chicken last night and you do not need rosemary potatoes. Seriously just add the potato to the chicken as it is cooking and it comes out FABULOUS. Amy and I agree that one of the best parts of the meal is the lemony veggies with it. The potato comes out like the ones they charge extra for at Santorini.
The Cadbury Creme Egg thing sounds amazing and I love Cadbury.
Not to sure about the brownies, I am more of a purist and don’t want beans in dessert:)
I hope G is in school tomorrow!

The Cadbury sounds great. I agree with Merrie about the brownies. But you know me, I am always willing to try. If you make the black bean brownies - save one for me.

Want to Try

Mini Caramel Apples: J. makes "apple grapes" for A. by using a melon baller on a Red Delicious. This idea goes one caramel-dunked step further -- perfect as an autumn snack activity.

Cook to This

"Rocketship Run" by Laurie Berkner. From her new album. We've only listening to it a couple of times, but this track keeps popping back into my head. (And sometimes I forget to turn it off when the kids aren't even in the car.)
