My dear friend from the north, Jodi, arrives Tuesday! And that’s the start of a vacation for me, too. The boys are spending a bunch of nights with their grandparents, so we are free to gallivant. We have a rigorous schedule of shopping and taste-testing to adhere to, so there will be a lot of eating out, as you can see from my menu plan. I will have to try to work in a way to eat our farm share vegetables, which I pick up on Wednesday. And Jodi and I may try a new recipe together, if we have time.

Two great new recipes from this past week: Baked Tofu with Soy & Sesame, and Sweet Sesame Cabbage & Radish Slaw which we served with our Father’s Day barbecue.

I have buttermilk to use up after making the Dr. Pepper Cake, so I’m also hoping to get a chance to bake muffins to freeze. If you have any recipe suggestions, please share!

Monday: Roasted chicken, mashed turnips (farm share), fruit salad

Tuesday: Homemade mac n’ cheese, spinach salad

Wednesday: Eat out

Thursday: Eat out

Friday: Eat out in the city

Saturday: Eat out in the city

Sunday: Spicy Cheese Enchiladas, roasted cauliflower, salsa & sour cream

Want to Try

Cheesy Kale Crisps: We rarely eat kale now that our farm share is over, and I want to fix that. I've wanted to try using nutritional yeast, and this recipe looks like a tasty way to do it.

"Shake It Out" by Florence + the Machine. This song reminds me of Annie Lennox, and I love tracks that include a huge, gospel-like chorus.
