080618csa3 CSA Share, Week 3

Roxbury Farm was pummeled by storms last week that included hail, but despite their hedging about the quality of the vegetables we’d receive this week (holes in leaves from the hail, for example), I was pleased with the haul.

We received a small arrowhead cabbage, a bunch of turnips, a summer squash, a big zucchini, garlic scapes, some lettuce mix, braising greens, and parsley.

I’m not eating at home much this week, so I’m not sure yet how I’ll be using everything. Last year the garlic scapes were very tough and woody, so I didn’t really get to use them properly. This year they seem more tender so I’m excited to try them out — maybe in a pesto like this one? I’m also looking forward to trying this Indian pallya with the cabbage.

Want to Try

Moroccan Chicken Tajine: I recently had a chicken tajine dish at Fig & Olive in Scarsdale, and wanted to recreate something similar at home. This is an Ina Garten recipe, and she never fails me.

"Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye. I find the xylophone haunting, and the lyrics are poignant. Love this track.
