CSA Share, Week 7

July 17th, 2008

Yesterday’s haul was a nice change — no cabbage, lettuce, or braising greens, but we got CORN! Six ears of it. We should be getting corn weekly now through September. We also received basil, onions, four cucumbers, some new potatoes, a bunch of slender carrots, three yellow squash, and a zucchini. It will be an easy week in terms of using it all up.

Tonight I sauteed two of the onions in a little olive oil, and then threw in the yellow squash and zucchini, diced. A little kosher salt. Served over whole wheat pasta (chiocciole) with a choice of feta or fresh mozzarella. Yum.

This is a lovely looking haul. I keep thinking how much a bunny would love all your stems and ends.

Looks great! What an easy share to incorporate into your week’s meals. I am nervous about this week’s share. We’re picking up tomorrow since we were gone on Tues. and then we pick up next week’s share this coming Tues. The one we missed this week had 4 heads of lettuce! Good grief, I can barely get through two.

Does the farm grow any fruit? Just wondering? The veges all look so perfect!

They do not grow fruit (although last year they randomly grew some strawberries). You can sign up for a separate fruit share, which comes from other local farms but is not organic. We only do the veggies. — Dara

Mmm - looks like what I got last week. Wait, it is!

Found your site via the Roxbury newsletter. I live in the next town over…

Cook to This

"Rocketship Run" by Laurie Berkner. From her new album. We've only listening to it a couple of times, but this track keeps popping back into my head. (And sometimes I forget to turn it off when the kids aren't even in the car.)
