I tried that beef and chick pea dinner after reading about it here a couple weeks ago, with brown rice cooked in broth and a tomato-cucumber salad with feta and a lemon vinaigrette and it was wonderful! I didn’t use the spike seasoning, cooked lots of onion and garlic with the meat, added a huge, juicy tomato to the mix, diced up, at the point that it says you can add some of the bean liquid, and didn’t add any broth or other liquid. It was quite good.
