081001csa18 CSA Share, Week 18

Small haul this week, in terms of variety. The kale is enormous, though (that’s the dark green leafy stuff on the left). We also received braising greens (the light green in the back), broccoli, and a large bok choi (the white bulb is hidden, the green and purple leaves are on the right). One bag of carrots, 4 slicing tomatoes, a quart of small potatoes, and 2 winter squash (1 acorn, 1 carnival) rounded out this week’s share.

We had a choice between the bok choi or a bunch of beets, but I chose the bok choi since I haven’t cooked any yet this season. I’m not sure what to do with one this size, though, as I’m used to “baby” bok choi. Roasted kale sounds good to me. And I will try the Bunny Muffins again with the carrots, this time subbing applesauce for the oil.

Once again amused that we got a slightly different haul – garlic instead of bok choi, two acorn squash instead of two different ones.

    Roasted kale sounds fascinating.

Cheesy Kale Crisps: We rarely eat kale now that our farm share is over, and I want to fix that. I've wanted to try using nutritional yeast, and this recipe looks like a tasty way to do it.

"Shake It Out" by Florence + the Machine. This song reminds me of Annie Lennox, and I love tracks that include a huge, gospel-like chorus.
