Chick in the Kitchen on TV!

March 11, 2009

I had a great opportunity this morning — a spot as a guest cook on ABC-affiliate WTNH’s lunchtime show, CT Style. I’ll write more about the experience later (it was a lot of fun!), but for now you can check out the video below.

Ok, few things!! Pretty jewelry! You mentioned Merrie (and your mom and J and the boys)! You did not seem nervous at all! So cool! Rosti spatula? Awesome!!

The necklace and bracelet are borrowed from J.’s mom. I love them and she has been gracious enough to lend the set to me more than once! Rosti, of course. I use at least one piece every day. — Dara

Kudos to you! You were great chatting and cooking, and looked like a regular on the show. I could practically smell the dish… yum!

How exciting to see my niece on tv! You seemed as though you’d been doing this forever–well prepared, capable, chatty! And I will try this recipe.

So, I have like 9 million questions…I’ll just ask a few…how did you decide what to cook there, what is shot through garlic, she totally mentioned Rachael Ray and you, what is really outside the window? That’ll do for now…:)

I wanted to do an easy dish I could cook exclusively on the stove top. Merrie suggested the chickpea dish! I took her suggestion because it’s an adaptable recipe that is also budget friendly, I thought it would be perfect for TV. I meant garlic that has a green shoot in it, not sure why I said it that way. More about the window in my next post. — Dara

Ok, and what is on the papers?

The hosts had their own notes and I had my recipe printed out in case I forgot it in the heat of the moment. — Dara

OMG, this was awesome. I smiled the whole time watching it, like, “I know her. She’s my friend!” Congrats on being so smooth and relaxed. I could never do that!

I made the beef and chickpeas tonight and it was so, SO good. I cubed up some sweet potatoes and roasted for a side and it was the perfect thing to cool some of the heat!

Cheesy Kale Crisps: We rarely eat kale now that our farm share is over, and I want to fix that. I've wanted to try using nutritional yeast, and this recipe looks like a tasty way to do it.

"Shake It Out" by Florence + the Machine. This song reminds me of Annie Lennox, and I love tracks that include a huge, gospel-like chorus.
