Menu Plan Monday, 7/20 – 7/26

greenmpm Menu Plan Monday, 7/20 7/26

Two nice dishes this past week that are worth mentioning: Cashew Cabbage Slaw with Sesame Dressing, and Pan-Fried Gnocchi with Swiss Chard & Onions.

I have been enjoying a lot of vegetarian cooking this summer — there is something that is just much easier (and lighter) about cooking without meat. Although I have to take extra care washing the produce from our farm share (it carries a lot more soil than supermarket vegetables, though it is rarely buggy), it’s nothing like dealing with raw chicken. Definitely a more relaxing way to cook. I’m continuing the meatless trend this week, until I ask J. to fire up the grill over the weekend.

Monday: French toast, yogurt, watermelon

Tuesday: Fresh Basil Cannelini Sauce over whole wheat spaghetti

Wednesday: Bagels with hummus or cheese and sliced tomatoes, carrots and celery sticks

Thursday: Mrs. Jones’ Macaroni & Cheese, farm share veggies (salad?)

Friday: Eat out or order in

Saturday: J. grills, corn on the cob, farm share veg

Sunday: make your own Boboli pizzas

Want to Try

Moroccan Chicken Tajine: I recently had a chicken tajine dish at Fig & Olive in Scarsdale, and wanted to recreate something similar at home. This is an Ina Garten recipe, and she never fails me.

"Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye. I find the xylophone haunting, and the lyrics are poignant. Love this track.
