Menu Plan Monday, 9/21 – 9/27
September 20, 2009
We had a fantastic holiday, and I feel happy and positive as we start the new year. You can read more about what we cooked in my Rosh Hashanah Recap, and how working with a horseradish root to make Poppy’s Horseradish nearly sent me running from the house.
Fall is always a busy time for me, but now that we’re settling into school and our activities, and preparation for Rosh Hashanah has passed I feel less manic and more ready to get back to proper cooking. I’m looking forward to tofu this week, which I haven’t made in a long time.
Monday: Leftovers from Rosh Hashanah or whole wheat pasta with sauteed greens (I have broccoli rabe and kale from my CSA)
Tuesday: Spicy Green Bean & Tofu Stir Fry, rice
Wednesday: Make Your Own Boboli pizzas, red pepper slices
Thursday: Skillet Gnocchi with Spinach & White Beans
Friday: Roasted chicken with fennel and onions, green veggies
Saturday: Sweet Potato & Black Bean Burritos (from the freezer), rice, farm share veggies
Sunday: Order in or go out

Dara – your three boys eat this amazing variety of food? How? I am struggling with a 33 yr old baby. Although my six month old is eating whatever I put in front of her…
Hi Mallika, my husband will try anything vegetarian, but is usually not here for dinner. My boys have a very limited list of what they’ll eat, and that’s why I cook, really — as my friend Karen says, if I don’t make it, I have a 100% chance of them not eating it. So I try to have a component of each meal that they will eat (a roll, pasta, etc.) and expose them to the rest of the meal. I hope that when they see others enjoying a wider variety of foods, they will eventually try them too. I’m lucky to have other family eating with us at least twice a week, so I at least have some people to eagerly eat my cooking! — Dara
