CSA 2010, Week 13
September 6, 2010

Last Wednesday we received 6 ears of corn, a large bunch of broccoli rabe, Carmen peppers, a bell pepper, a bag of beefsteak tomatoes, a pint of Juliet tomatoes, green beans, plum tomatoes, lettuce mix, and a winter squash.
We’ve had a backlog of peppers, but J. fixed that last night by roasting an entire produce bin-full (several CSA weeks) of poblanos, jalapeños, Carmens, and bells. He removed the charred skin, and then chopped them up with some olive oil, salt, and fresh basil. It had more heat than I expected, but was a nice compliment to a barbecue. And thank goodness for barbecues: we had family over last night, and also used up all the corn. A batch of Basil Green Beans & Tomatoes and Broccoli Rabe Potato Salad finished off those ingredients plus the potatoes from last week. Having a big group to feed on the weekend really helps me use the week’s share.
