J. got home early this evening, so I was able to pick up my farm share alone. Normally I like having the kids with me — it’s about as close to a vegetable as they get, willingly. But today, it was a relief to just do it by myself. I even wandered over to say hi to the goats, though I wasn’t willing to give up any of the gorgeous haul I got this week. No, not even the kale. I’m ready to start making some soup!

We received green beans (they are looking better and better as the season goes on), 2 carnival squash, 3 Italia peppers, a pint of yellow tomatoes, 2 lush heads of broccoli, a huge bunch of broccoli rabe, arugula, kale, lettuce mix, beefsteak tomatoes, plum tomatoes, and parsley.

I didn’t take any parsley because I already have a lot at home, and there was very little left in the bin when I got to the pick-up site.

Want to Try

Moroccan Chicken Tajine: I recently had a chicken tajine dish at Fig & Olive in Scarsdale, and wanted to recreate something similar at home. This is an Ina Garten recipe, and she never fails me.

"Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye. I find the xylophone haunting, and the lyrics are poignant. Love this track.
